custom

Margaret is one of my favorite quilting customers. Her piecing is always perfect and she brings in a bunch of quilts for us and says call when they are ready.

She did this beautiful Sunbonnet Sue that she wanted customed and asked for butterflies in the borders. I did a stipple around each Sunbonnet and into the first border sashing. In the outer border, I did some butterflies than went back in and added them to the 9patch blocks in all the sashings.

Cats seem to pick

The strangest places to sleep don't they? Chai was fascinated with my clothes drying rack the other day and I couldn't keep him off of it.

Julie's Christmas quilt

Love this Christmas quilt. Julie also cut out ponsettias and appliquéd them into the white sections of the quilt.

Quilted with one of my Christmas favorites, Holly Ribbon

Lynn's custom

I did this quilt for Lynn earlier in the month. Lynn's entire house is decorated in pastels for Christmas; it really is lovely.

Lynn is planning on scalloping in the edges of the quilt and add on all the embellishments. I did stipple/meander quilting in the blocks. I did a wavy meander using my favourite wavy ruler on the block border instead of stitch in the ditching. And in the borders, I quilted snowflakes.

To Be Quilted

I pieced this quilt early in the summer using Kansas Troubles Wildflower Serenade 2. I love this fabric line. I'm also doing Hamels Mystery Quilt in the same fabrics.

Hopefully I can get this quilted soon. Than I can really enjoy it.

Happy Anniversary

6 years ago, Sharon's husband stopped by the quilting studio and asked if I could/would make him a quilt for his wife. You can see that quilt, a Double Wedding Ring, here.

Sharon made this quilt to co-ordinate with the Wedding Ring and came up with this beauty.

It measures 111inches squared and was quilted with Falling Leaves

hello hello!

Yes I am still here. I've had an amazingly busy fall. I've been sick on and off, mostly on, since August. I just can't seem to shake it. Than it was off to Innovations in September but just before that, my father in law passed away.

So I haven't had allot of time for quilting/longarming. When I do get a chance, I'm trying to get things for me completed since I didn't get to accomplish much during the summer.

This is quilt is for one of our guest rooms. I quilted it with Twilight, a great filler/movement pattern.

Quilt Show Countdown

Our local Quilt Guild is having a quilt show October 24th. I started this New York Beauty in 2004. Yes, you read that right 2-0-0-4. I think it is time to finish it.

So I decided I want to enter it into the quilt show. Which means finishing it NOW. I had one of my grandsons spend the night last night and he so kindly sorted my 3 bins of batik fabrics into color groups so it is easier for me to pick the colors I want to use.

I am working on the borders for the quilt. I've had the center finished for awhile now. I love how the colors flow.

Underneath this mess(all the bits are the leftovers from each border section. I wanted to keep them separate so I didn't end up putting any fabrics in twice) is the finished section. Anyone want to help clean up?

New Addition

Here is the latest addition to our Quilted Cats family. Let me introduce you to Truffles! She is just 14 weeks old and only a couple of pounds. It's hard to get her to stay still for a picture as she is constantly racing up and down the hallway. What a tiny bundle of fluff and energy! She sure adds a lot of life and fun to our home & studio.

She is a Himalayan Persian.

Bag Making

We had my Father-in-law's funeral this week, so last week consisted of helping set up for the service, picking up family members for airports and just getting together as a family. In all that, we even had a birthday. Our oldest grandson turned 14.

The service was lovely. Thank you all for you kind words regarding my Father-in-law's passing. At 98yrs old, every year we had with him was a gift.

Saturday my daughter-in-law Erica, daughter Rhonda and cousin Melody decided we needed to make handbags. Before we started we went off for a quick fabric pick-up to Hamels!

Our pattern of the night, the Buttercup Bag. Erica decided to make her's the regular size with a fabric strap. The rest of us went with the larger bag and fashion handles.

Just over 3 hours later, we had 4 bags finished! I love how super easy this pattern is. We did change it a bit and added some pellon to the lining to stiffen the bag up a bit more. We also changed the pleats in the front of the bag and added an inverted pleat to the middle instead of having the pleats go all in the same direction.

Here's my completed bag.

heat wave

We have been under an intense heat wave for the past 5 days. Temps are soaring into the upper 30s and with the humidity, over 40degrees(that is roughly 110F)

A few years ago, we had double doors installed in the front of our home. On the downside, the heat just pours in during the day. My solution? Hang a quilt and block out some of the sun.

I love how the light shines through the fabrics

Back to work

Dear husband and I just got back from 12 days in Alberta visiting our son and daughter in law. Most of our trip was spent visiting with LongArm Supplies customers and doing machine repairs/maintance.

The summer slowdown has started and I am looking forward to emptying out my closet of quilt tops that have been waiting for a long time(some a few years!) to be quilted and completed.

This lovely *man* quilt is for Hamels quilt store.
